# Autodesk Forma Data Management

> Connect and sync models from Autodesk Forma Data Management — the Autodesk cloud platform still widely known as ACC — with Speckle for analytics, dashboards, and automation workflows.

<Note>
  **Autodesk Forma Data Management** is the current name for **Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC)**; labels and URLs may still say ACC. Before anyone can sign in, the integration must be enabled on your **ACC Hub**. If workspace settings do not show a Forma / ACC login option, ask your IT administrator to follow [Enable Autodesk Forma Data Management integration](/workspaces/it-admin-acc-integration).
</Note>

<Info>
  The Autodesk Forma Data Management integration is available on **Team** and
  **Enterprise** plans.

             <img src="https://mintcdn.com/speckle/IDTzHK7ZwhXDmlRq/images/connectors/cloud-integrations/acc/acc-select%20file.png?fit=max&auto=format&n=IDTzHK7ZwhXDmlRq&q=85&s=3c2eef469439b68278bc4b6408f6aaf4" alt="Select file" width="1780" height="1240" data-path="images/connectors/cloud-integrations/acc/acc-select file.png" />
           </Frame>
    3. For **Revit** files (`.rvt`) only, optionally define the view to export, choose the **coordination system**, and set a reference point for coordinated placement. Coordination system and reference point selection are not offered for IFC, Navisworks, or other formats in ACC sync. See [View Selection](#view-selection) and [Coordination system](#coordination-system).

    </Frame>

    4. Select **Create**.

    This connects your Forma Data Management file to your Speckle model. Changes in Autodesk cloud storage sync automatically to Speckle.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## Supported File Formats

The following file formats are currently supported for syncing from Autodesk Forma Data Management:

| Format     | Extension     | Status      |
| ---------- | ------------- | ----------- |
| Revit      | `.rvt`        | ✅ Supported |
| IFC        | `.ifc`        | ✅ Supported |
| Navisworks | `.nwc` `.nwd` | ⚠️ Beta     |

<Info>
  Navisworks files (`.nwc` and `.nwd`) are supported for manual upload and Forma Data Management
  sync as a beta feature. Many Autodesk (and other) products can export
  Navisworks Cache files without requiring a Navisworks license, so you can
  upload those exports to Speckle.
</Info>

<Warning>
  While the Navisworks parser is in Beta if the file size is over 200MB, the
  sync may not always succeed. Treat Navisworks sync as a beta release and
  expect occasional failures, especially for very large files.
</Warning>

<Info>
  We're planning to add support for additional formats like `.dwg` in future
  releases.
</Info>

<Warning>
  In Forma Data Management (ACC) sync, coordination system and reference point selection apply **only** to **Revit** (`.rvt`) files. IFC and Navisworks ACC syncs do not use those controls. If you do not change the Revit setting, the default behaviour still applies. For coordination workflows that rely on specific Revit coordinate handling and connector-level control, use the [Revit connector](/connectors/revit/revit).
</Warning>

## View Selection

When syncing a Revit file from Forma Data Management, you can optionally specify a view name to control which elements are included in the sync.

### No view specified (default)

When you don't specify a view name, **all supported elements from the entire model are synced**. This includes every element across all model.

This is the recommended option when you want:

* A complete representation of your model
* Access to all elements for analytics and dashboards
* Maximum data availability for downstream workflows

### Specifying a view name

When you enter a specific view name, **only elements visible in that view are synced**. The view name must match exactly (case-sensitive) with a view in your Revit model.

This is useful when you want to:

* Sync only a portion of your model
* Focus on specific areas or disciplines
* Match the scope of a particular coordination view
* Sync views that correspond to different design options

<Warning>
  If the specified view name doesn't exist in the model, the sync will fail.
  Make sure the view name matches exactly.
</Warning>

## Coordination system

<Note>
  In ACC sync, coordination system and reference point controls apply **only** to **Revit** (`.rvt`) files. They do not apply when syncing IFC or Navisworks files from Forma Data Management.
</Note>

When creating a sync **for a Revit model**, you can choose which coordination system to use from the sync setup UI. This setting controls how the model is positioned for downstream coordination and review workflows.

### Default behavior

If you do not change this setting, the Revit sync uses the default coordination system shown in the UI.

### Choosing a coordination system explicitly

Choose a specific coordination system when you need predictable placement across models, disciplines, or tools.

This is useful when you want to:

* Align multiple synced Revit-linked models to the same spatial baseline
* Match a known project coordination setup
* Reduce placement drift between different source files

If you are aligning multiple models, use the same coordination system approach across related Revit syncs to avoid placement mismatches.

<AccordionGroup>
  <Accordion title="Is the connection read-only?">
    Yes. Speckle establishes a read-only connection with Autodesk Forma Data Management (ACC), which means we can sync and analyze your data but can't modify the original files. This ensures data integrity and security.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="How often do files sync?">
    Once you've created a sync model, it automatically syncs whenever a new version of the file is published to Autodesk Forma Data Management. You don't need to manually trigger ongoing synchronization.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Why are my models in the wrong location?">
    For **Revit** ACC syncs, use the reference point input in the sync configuration to control placement for coordination workflows. If the selected reference point does not match your downstream model setup, placement can still appear offset. Reference point and coordination system options are **not** available for IFC or Navisworks ACC syncs—adjust placement in those workflows using your authoring tool or the relevant connector where applicable.
    For project-by-project control and advanced receive options, you can also use the [Revit connector](/connectors/revit/revit).
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="What if my sync fails?">
    Common causes include file access issues, authorization problems, or unsupported file formats. Check that:

    * The file is accessible
    * Your permissions are correct
    * The file is in **.rvt**, **.ifc**, **.nwc**, or **.nwd** format

    Contact support if issues persist.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="How do I get access?">
    Contact us at [hello@speckle.systems](mailto:hello@speckle.systems) to request access.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="What's the difference between the Forma Data Management integration and other integrations?">
    The Forma Data Management (ACC) integration connects Speckle to Autodesk cloud construction data and enables automatic synchronization. Unlike other integrations that require manual file uploads or connectors, cloud syncs happen automatically when files are updated.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Can I use Autodesk Forma Data Management models with Speckle Intelligence?">
    Yes. Once synced, your models can be used with Speckle Intelligence for analytics, dashboard creation, and generating insights from your construction data.
  </Accordion>
